Formula 1 will return to India in 2027 after the FIA confirmed that the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida has passed all required safety and infrastructure inspections following a ₹890 crore renovation programme.
The Indian Grand Prix last featured on the F1 calendar in 2013. The Jaypee Group, which owns the circuit, partnered with global track management company Tilke Engineers to rebuild the pit lane complex, reseal the full track surface, and upgrade spectator facilities from 90,000 to 125,000 capacity.
The 2027 Calendar Slot
India will host a round in early February 2027, forming part of a fly-away swing with the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali called India a “crucial market” and said he expects the race to become a permanent fixture, potentially as a street circuit in Mumbai in later years.
