Mumbai City FC Dominate ISL Season 12, Qualify for AFC Champions League Elite

Mumbai City FC completed ISL Season 12 with a historic league double — finishing top of the table with a record 62 points and winning the championship playoff — to secure India’s first-ever berth in the AFC Champions League Elite tier.

The club’s Spanish core, led by coach Sergio Lobera in his second stint, conceded only 23 goals across the season while scoring 71, both new ISL records. Striker Jorge Diaz’s 24-goal haul eclipsed the previous season record by six.

What the AFC Slot Means

India will compete in Asia’s premier club competition for the first time, facing clubs from Japan, South Korea, China, and Saudi Arabia. The AFC has confirmed that Mumbai City will enter at the group stage, backed by a prize pool of $3 million for group stage participation alone.
